    Hello there,

We have just migrated from Paypal checkout to Paypal payments and started seeing some issues already with this plugin,

1- the payment icons of the PayPal Card Processing do not show on mobile, instead, a small text of the name of the cards is shown.

2- PayPal Card Processing does not have accurate error messages, all errors appear to be “Error processing checkout. Please try again”.

3- Since migrating to this plugin we have already noticed multiple failed orders which we didn’t use to have with the previous Woocommerce Paypal checkout. most of these failed orders seem to come from the PayPal Card Processing payment option.

4- The Paypal payment buttons take too long to show up on the checkout in addition to processing a transaction with the PayPal Card Processing payment option.

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

    Hi @gentlemako,

    Thanks for your feedback.
I’d like to address your concerns:

1- Which OS and browser are you testing this with, and does the behavior persist with the default Storefront theme active? We don’t see this behavior with any of the latest Chrome/Safari/Firefox browsers on Android or iOS.

2- Our next plugin update adds more user-friendly error messages in the frontend and also logs more relevant information within the order notes and log files. Some users are reporting compatibility issues with the PayPal Card Processing and the next version should provide more clarity about eventual failures.

3- As mentioned above, there are isolated reports about potential compatibility issues with the new credit card gateway on these forums but for the vast majority of users, it works without major complaints.
Can you reproduce any failed order behavior with the PayPal Card Processing, especially with a sandbox account connected? If yes, does the issue also persist with only the Storefront theme, WooCommerce, and PayPal Payments active?
When in doubt, the regular credit card smart button (which appears when you disable the PayPal Card Processing) can potentially provide more consistent payment results until we have figured out what could be causing this issue for some users.

4- The loading times for the buttons do leave room for improvement. We are working with PayPal to provide performance optimizations but a slight delay on the first page load is difficult to avoid. But some potential improvements in this regard are planned for a future update.

We would be glad to further look into eventual issues with credit card payments so we can find a solution that improves the user experience for everyone. Hello Niklas,

    Thank you for the response,

1- The problem with the credit cards icons was on the iPhone safari.

3- I have personally gone ahead and placed an order, it failed 3 times before going through, some customers have 4 to 6 failed orders before the last one will go through and I don’t how many may just walk away on the first one.

    UPDATE:

We have also seen a problem with some orders that can’t be refunded until we do it manually, I have followed your response from another thread to resubscribe to the webhooks, which I did, and simulation redirects a positive response as well, but the issue still persists.

    Thank you for the support.

    Please disregard the UPDATE:

I figured the transactions that can’t be refunded with the Paypal button are the ones that came through with the old Paypal checkout plugin, this might be the same thing happening to other users complaining about the refund.

    Hi @gentlemako,

We are looking into whether or not it would be feasible to implement a feature that lets you refund PayPal Standard/Checkout orders with PayPal Payments. But for the moment, the payments can only be refunded through the gateway they were paid with or alternatively manually at PayPal.

Regarding the icons, could you please share a link to your site?
You can also send us a private message from here: https://paypal.inpsyde.com/docs/request-support/

We continue to look into this issue report in our internal support ticket PPC-481. We did request additional information to provide better guidance and would appreciate it if you could provide the information in the support ticket via mail or our support Portal. Thanks!
I will go ahead and mark this thread resolved for the time being and eventually update it with a resolution when our investigation is over.

    Kind regards,
