I see that you mentioned that you turned off all your plugins to check if the issue was related to a plugin. But, have you tried to change your theme from Divi to a Storefront or a WordPress default theme to see if that fixes it? If you haven’t done that yet, please do it and let us know how it goes!
Additionally, in order to help you to troubleshoot this issue, please share the following WooCommerce logs:
- System Status: found under WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
- Error log: found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs

Thanks for sending over your System Status Report.
It sounds like the error “Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later” may be caused when incorrect PayPal settings have been entered or when Encrypted Website Payments are set to On on PayPal.
In the first case, you’ll want to verify your PayPal settings are correct (i.e. correct PayPal email address and all other settings) under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal Standard. For Encrypted Website Payments you can set the radio button to OFF by following the instructions on the PayPal guide here.
If the above doesn’t resolve the issue, please reach out again and provide any fatal error logs found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs as mentioned by @plantprogrammer for further investigation.
