PayPal Authorize vs capture

I’m trying to understand PayPal’s authorize the capture. As I read it, if “Payment Action” is set to “Authorize” then when an order is placed, the charge will be authorized but not actually charged. Then when the order is marked as complete, the “capture” will occur and the customer will actually be charged. Have I got that right?

Is there a time limit between authorize and capture? Sometimes I will need 2-3 weeks to complete an order.
