@nanasflowers What’s listed on the order as the payment method refers to which of the Payment Methods that are listed under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments was used here.
The plugin does not identify between methods used by the same gateway. So, all payments that come through the PayPal Checkout method, whether it was Visa, Mastercard or PayPal funds, will be registered the same.

I understand that’s how it currently works, which is very suboptimal as it confuses customers which is proved by the fact I get multiple messages daily asking why it says “Payment Method: PayPal” on transactional emails, in their account and the thank you page, when they have actually paid with a card.
Could there not be something built in to populate the payment method title depending on the actual method used?

@fhaps I have just received this reply from PayPal developer support:
“It really looks like that was an oversight by the plugin maker to just automatically assign the title to the “Payment Method” field. If the plugin maker just recorded which of the Smart Payment Buttons were clicked like “PayPal Credit” or “Debit or Credit Card” then that would be a much better option.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like PayPal would be able to do much here as this is something the plugin maker should try to resolve.”
This is the action I would expect to be taken to display the payment method, and it looks like PayPal would expect the same, given WooCommerce is a supported third party on PayPal, I would surely expect this to work correctly.

@nanasflowers This is not something that can be enabled with the way the plugin is designed to work at the moment.
If this is something that would really help, could you please add this suggestion to our Ideas Board?
https://ideas.woocommerce.com/forums/133476-woocommerce?category_id=337582
That’s where our developers go to for ideas on things to improve or new features that might be added to the plugin in future updates.
We appreciate your feedback!
