    Hello Again.

Thanks for your support so far.

I came across an issue when password protecting pages containing Photoblocks galleries. To be clear I am using standard WordPress password protection: Publish -Visibility: Password Protected

So when I try and view a password protected gallery, I am prompted to enter the password, which I do. Occasionally, but not always, I am redirected to the WordPress login page, even though I have entered the correct password and I am logged in. It can happen on any browser. The second time I enter the password, it always works no problems.

I have tried disabling my other plugins in case of conflict, but no luck.
Do you have any idea what could be causing this to happen / how I could fix it?
    Example is here: http://sambarnesphotography.com/test-gallery-2/
    Password is: SBP2018

    Many thanks,

    SB

  • Hi SB,

I actually don’t see any relation between the gallery and the password access on page. So, if you remove the gallery shortcode it works normally?

    Hi,

So, if you remove the gallery shortcode it works normally?

    Yes, exactly.

Here is another password protected gallery on the same WordPress site, except with normal images inserted directly into the page. It doesn’t have the same issue. All other plugins are the same, so it can’t be due to them either.

    Example: http://sambarnesphotography.com/testgallery/
    Password: SBP2018

Any idea why this might be happening?

    Best regards,

    Sam

Weird. Please, try to disable the resizer from the Gallery advanced settings.

    Hey Diego,

OK have done this, does it work now for you?
(My computer sometime seems to remember the password even when I clear the cache).

Only thing is I enabled the resizer because without it my 1500px images download as 1000px. Having the resizer on with an Image scale factor of 2 kept the downloaded image size at it’s original 1500px. So I’d prefer to have it on!

UPDATE: I can now confirm that I had the same issue even with the image resizer disabled. So it’s not that.

    Many thanks,

    Sam

Are you sure you don’t have some kind of caching plugins? There’s a weird behaviour. When I check the standard gallery, the first time it redirects again to the login page, but then I’m not able to replicate the same thing again.

It also seems it doesn’t happen anymore with my plugin since you disabled the resizing option but I really can’t figure why. I checked on a clean installation, without plugins and with the standard theme and it works normally.

Did you also try to switch to a default theme?

On the same gallery (http://sambarnesphotography.com/test-gallery-2/) I have now deactivated all plugins except for Photoblocks and Custom CSS. The plugins I deactivated were: Yoast SEO, Redirection, Jetpack, Google XML Sitemaps.

    My Plugins Screenshot:

My theme is called Moka, and is a third party theme from Elma studios in Germany.
I have modified it with the Custom CSS plugin which is why I haven’t deactivated that one. I’m hesitant to switch to a default theme as I’m not sure whether I can get Moka back the same again when I switch back. I have modified it significantly.

Sorry, I know this has taken up a lot of your time and I appreciate your support.

I tried again the page with the standard gallery and it redirected to the login page, so it’s a general problem.

I understand your concern about switching theme but since I can’t replicate the issue on a standard theme there’s not much I (we) can do. I strongly suggest to make a test environment where you can use the default theme, if it works then you should ask support to the theme’s author.

OK , will do. Going to have a developer look ar it.

You mean the gallery page without the Photoblocks shortcode?

Thanks so much for your help.

Exactly. I did a cleanup of cache and cookies and tried to login to http://sambarnesphotography.com/testgallery/ as first thing and it redirected to the login page after inserting the password.
