    1. Having an issue with images from password protected galleries being indexed by Google/showing up in Google image searches. If the gallery is password protected shouldn’t the images be protected as well? I’ve had to be manually deleting the images from the gallery and then requesting a URL removal from Google for that specific gallery.
Even after we had deleted the gallery and it was in the trash the link was still live. I had to set up a redirect to the home page.

    b. This subgallery is a part of a password protected main gallery and I came across the image by typing the client’s name. Are sub galleries not password protected even though their main galleries are protected?
In addition, the images from associated subgalleries are showing up in Google images and then when you click on the individual image it directs you to the password protected page. There are several other galleries in this same situation.

    c. Some previous galleries seem to be affected from 2015-2016. Missing parent galleries and so the subgalleries are accessible on the client-galleries page.

    3. Is there a way to make the client galleries page not accessible by clients?

I’d prefer to send the links via an email due to the privacy of the links.

  • Look to see if you are using a Sitemap XML plugin. It may be including attachment pages in there resulting in Google knowing the URLs to all the images. Otherwise, by default, if a gallery is password protected the URL for the individual image page is protected and thus the URL to the image is not accessible to Google.

Sub-galleries up to 2.5.24 do not use a parent gallery’s password. I just added this to the next release, so 2.5.25 will have this.

You cannot make the Client Galleries page not accessible, but you can remove it from links throughout Sunshine: https://gist.github.com/sunshinephotocart/cda4a46b1358adc795aa

I’m replying to this thread because I believe it is related. Ever since this update I have a major problem with my gallery passwords. I have passworded parent galleries that have passworded child galleries. Usually I would be able to select the parent and enter the password and this would give me access to the child galleries each of which had a password of their own. Since this update I cannot access the child galleries as I keep getting prompted again for the parent password when I try to enter the password for the child gallery. This is really very urgent as I cannot allow the parent galleries to be without passwords as my client is a school photographer and for this very reason I have needed the 2 tier passwording. Please advise or adjust this urgently…My client is losing a lot of business daily….

@kerryanne Do the parent and child galleries have different passwords?

@kerryanne I cannot reproduce any issues related to parent/child password galleries. I will need more specifics about your setup to help identify the issue. As much detail and examples as you can provide would be helpful.

Yes the parent gallery has a password and then all sub galleries have individual passwords. I click on the parent gallery and I am prompted for password which I enter and get in to see all the sub galleries. When I click on a sub gallery I am prompted for the sub galleries password which I enter and I then get a message that the parent gallery is password protected and it keeps taking me to the parent to enter the password. I cannot get into the sub gallery.
