Password Protect

Hi there,

I am a brand new user and I have installed your plugin and started using it. I have crerated a sign up and thanks page and also a Member List. I have also added some custom fields and generally had a good look round.

What I want to do is to have a separate Member area of the website. So, the sign up page is public, but the rest of the Membership is not.I don’t want this for access to special info or anything – my site is not a money making thing but for a Charity and we want people to support it by either contributing or joining and making regular payments.

What I want to do is to keep private the Member List and their details.

So, my question is should I be insisting that users are logged on via WordPress, or should I password protect the page or is this the prupose of your other add on Participant Login?

Also, with regard to Payments, we currently have people use Go Cardless to set up direct debit payments but I note you also have a plugin called Member Payments which integrates Paypal payments. Is it feasable to use other methods to physically pay the money but use the payments piece to record the same? Your documentation states that offline payemtns are fine so I’m guessing so. Clearly, I would also want the payment records to be “behind closed doors” as well.

Sorry, one extra thing if I may. Can the plugin (or one of your add on plugins) be used to have such things as Family Memberships? So, for example there is one Membership and it can have many members (for whatever reason – but family is a normal one).

If you need to create “members only” pages on your site, you will need to give your members WordPress logins. The Participant Login add-on is only for accessing the member’s editable record, it doesn’t provided a persistent login.

The Member Payments add-on does have an offline payment method that is basically a way for an administrator to manually enter a payment for a member. It does keep track of whether a payment is due or not, and can be helpful in notifying member when a payment is due.

For your last question, there isn’t any special setup for adding multiple members to a single record. Of course, you could use a plain text area field to hold a list of the family members, but that may not give you the functionality you’re looking for.

1. OK. Understand about the login and such like.
2. Thanks re: the Payments piece. Once I have this bit figured out then I will have a look at that.
3. Pity. Is that something you could consider? I’d be happy to chat about requirements and if you felt it something that would be useful to add to the plugin or if you felt it could be a bespoke piece of work then maybe we could chat.

WRT the last, one of the issues is that if you have junior members then it has to be their parents or guardians who are the Member who has to agree the Ts&Cs and can be chased for payment as a minor cannot by law.
