passing purchase back to a script?

    Hi,

    I need to create a serial number based on the purchasers name, time and purchase date. I’m assuming the successful purchase can link back to a php file which generates a serial number and sends that as HTML back to the browser. But how do I obtain the purchaser details? Is the data posted back to the download link?
