There was an error in the plugin update, which caused the website to crash. I have no way to upgrade the version of PHP. Is there any other solution?

  • hi there,

Please provide the error that you received when updating the plugin.

Also, what PHP version are you using?

If you don’t have an idea about PHP version you can also ask to the web host and they will help you upgrade it as well.

    Hi Vishakha,

I am getting below error when update plugin.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/content/67/11582667/html/wp-content/plugins/themeisle-companion/obfx_modules/image-cdn/init.php on line 44

I don’t know what i should have to take action.

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    Manish

    my php version is 5.3

This is happening because PHP version doesn’t support []. Please update the PHP version to the latest 7+ and then check it.

You can also consult with your web host if you want help in updating the PHP version.

Is there an older version of Orbit Fox that can work with PHP v5.3? My Web Host tells me that they can’t upgrade to a higher version of PHP.

Unfortunately, any such older version is not available.

How was this resolved? Seems the fix was to upgrade to PHP 7.0 but the hosting provider would/could not upgrade likely due to shared server environment? Not sure why an earlier version of the init.php file could not be provided.

    please advise.

Me aparece este error fatal: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home8/guruyosydor/public_html/wp-content/plugins/themeisle-companion/obfx_modules/image-cdn/init.php on line 44.

    Mi WordPress está actualizado.
Servidor web – Versión de PHP: 7.2.7

Orbit Fox se instala correctamente, pero no me deja activarlo.

    Agradezco la ayuda

Hi there – I appear to have a similar problem to manish0510 above. I installed a new plug-in that initially appeared to be fine but a day later my site went down with the following error message.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /homepages/7/d576740156/htdocs/app576740160/wp-config.php on line 127

My website is davidrandles.com but I can’t access the back end to try and uninstall the plugin, assuming that is the problem? Any help is appreciated.

    Hi there,

It appears to be PHP related issue – https://stackoverflow.com/questions/40624805/parse-error-syntax-error-unexpected-how-to-fix-this-one. Kindly update the PHP version and then check the issue.

You can contact web host for updating the PHP version.

@bkilcoyne you can have the plugin older version but I am afraid that they might not be compatible with the old PHP version as well. The better solution is to be latest.
