Parse error: syntax error – Locked out without credentials
-
I am getting the following error: “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected”, which has locked me out of the administration of the site entirely and the website itself shows that error.
This was due to editing the functions.php page to add Google Analytics code, which appears to be a common error due to a lot of the research I’ve been doing today after this mistake.
The biggest problem is that I was using old log in credentials from 2011 that were set up by a former employee of our company. I had logged in with the username and password that was passed along, and I don’t have any place to reference the host name or port number. I obviously logged in with a username and password that was left behind by the former employee, but I think I may have accidentally “reset” the password when trying to get into these forums, sending it to an invalid email address (unless the log in info for these forums are not linked).
So, I don’t know how I will get into an FTP client to try to fix this code.
Thanks for any help or direction that could be provided!
