All of the sudden, I am seeing a “Parse Error” on my portfolio. I can’t seem to get rid of it. Anyone have an idea on how to get rid of this? I would really appreciate it.

The message reads “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/merbal/meredithbaldwin.com/wp-content/themes/pilcrow/footer.php on line 36”

I am currently using the Pilcrow theme by Automattic – and I would really like to keep this if possible.

  • Try re-uploading a fresh copy of the theme using FTP or use whatever file management application your host provides.

I tried re-uploading it twice. The last time I even changed the theme and then went back to the Pilcrow theme, hoping it would completely relay the theme. But I am still getting the Parse message. Any other ideas?

Did you download a fresh copy of the theme first?

I thought so! I went up top under themes, and chose a different one. Is there an actual way to download a theme? I just remember selecting one when I first started.

If so, could you please tell me how to do this? Will it completely wipe out my website?

Download a fresh copy to your computer from http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/pilcrow
Unpack the archive and upload the theme’s folder using FTP (or use whatever file management application your host provides) to wp-content/themes.

And, no – this will not wipe out your site. Your content is safely stored in your database.

Thank you! That worked. I greatly appreciate your help!
