parameters are failing

I installed this plugin and tried to use it because we have a mission statement post that we want to pin in our sidebar. The mission statement has the category mission statement when I put [catlist name=Mission Statment] I get all of our posts, not just that category. When I try to limit the full list to just 1 post, which would be our mission statement, it shows 2 posts. How do I fix this?
