The numbers are a number 1 2 3 and so on, WP put in if you already have a page or post with that name (the title, or the slug to be more precise)
Note that even if you delete an old page or post, it still holds on to that slug untill you delete it from the trash.
Also, changing the title of an already created page/post won’t change the slug, so you need to do that manually..
