    hello all,

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve tried setting up word press twice with the same result.

I am using the free MAMP to try and host a site. I’ve done both a mac and a PC install.

The test site has always been available to the outside world. But it has always displayed badly regardless of accessing inside or outside the LAN

When working in WordPress it displays exactly as you would expect.

If I’m in the wrong forum my apologies. I have done a bit of searching and not found an answer to my problem.

    Thanks

  • One of your site settings are pointing at localhost (192.168.1.114) that won’t work outside of your own host…

For instance, I tried your embedded in the HTML RSS feed at http://192.168.1.114:900/feed/ even though I knew that wouldn’t work and received a destination URL unreachable error.

Fix that and most of your problems will probably go away though I’m a bit concerned about that port number (900). You might need to work with that a bit also but try it first.

    Hey, jnashhawkins
Thanks for replying, I will adjust the port, That was just testing my ISP blocking the ports as I thought that was a possible cause.

Well I feel silly, fixed all that with a touch more research. The siteurl seemedto be the problem, I had read some bad advice about pointing the site url to the local to fix the issue, Seems the exact opposite is true.

Website set to Kwilk.ca and it works perfect.

Also set the port back to 80.

Now to migrate it back to the real server and see if it stays the same. as usual its a Picnic error….

    thanks again
