Outstanding Plugin

I don’t write many reviews. First used this plugin when I migrated my news site [https://www.enewspf.com] from Joomla to WordPress in 2017. It worked just fine! Don’t recall how long it took, but it never overworked the server. Never had the dreaded WordPress “white screen of death.” It just worked.

I had over 50,000 URLs to transfer at the time. There are at least 15,000 more now.

This plugin created Permanent 301 Redirects for everyone of those 50,000+ URLs. I lost no traffic from the thousands of sites that linked to us, and Google found the new URLs quickly.

THEN, a couple of years ago, I made a mistake. I deleted the FG Joomla to WordPress plugin from my site. Thought I was saving bandwidth.

I was wrong. When I did that, I lost all of those precious redirects. People visiting from other sites linked to ours got 404s. I was sick. Thought there was nothing I could do.

That was a couple of years ago. Today, I thought I’d check with FredericGilles.net’s support. I found an old copy of the original Joomla database from 2009. Could I process this DB and get my 301s back?

Support responded within a few minutes. All I had to do was reinstall the Pro plugin, check the box that said “Redirect the Joomla URLs,” and click Save settings.

Boom! Thousands of redirects instantly restored. The plugin had saved the old Joomla article IDs in the DB in a table unrelated to the plugin. They were still there.

This plugin is gold. I highly recommend it. Could not give the plugin, or FredericGilles.net, a higher recommendation. Very impressive.
