I understand how confusing it is to see order statuses showing in English after updating, even when the site and Loco Translate are set to Brazilian Portuguese. Let’s run through a few quick checks to pinpoint what is overriding the translations.
Here’s what you can try next:
- Go to Loco Translate → Plugins → WooCommerce → Edit, make sure the translation is set to Custom (not System), then click Sync and Save. This refreshes the translation strings and ensures they’re stored safely outside the plugin folder so updates don’t overwrite them.
- In the same area, double-check that “Portuguese (Brazil)” is selected as the active translation — not “Site language (default)” or “System.”
- After saving, clear all caches — including your caching plugin, object cache, and any OPcache or server-side cache your host provides.
- To rule out conflicts, temporarily switch to the Storefront theme and deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce. If the order statuses display correctly in Portuguese then, it means one of your plugins or the theme is overriding the translations.
