Hi, I’m concerned about an error that occurred last month with Woocommerce.

The order went through the following steps on auto-pilot :

    1. 11:42 am Unpaid order canceled – time limit reached. Order status changed from Awaiting Payment to Cancelled.
    2. 3:21 pm Order status changed from Cancelled to Processing

I use Stripe as a processor and there is no payment either failed, or approved. So why did the order become “processing” automatically ?

I would like to avoid this type of error in the future. Thank for your help!

  • Hi,

I understand the order changed from cancelled to processing. Depending on the case, there could be several reasons.

    1. Payment Gateway Issues: One common cause for incorrect order status changes in WooCommerce is an issue with the payment gateway. If the payment gateway sends wrong or duplicate information to WooCommerce, it can cause the system to update order statuses incorrectly. This could be due to miscommunication between the WooCommerce plugin and the payment gateway, or a bug.

    2. Plugin or Custom Code Conflicts: Another common reason for incorrect order status changes in WooCommerce is conflicts between plugins or custom code added to your site. As a first step I recommend you to check for conflicts, please refer to this documentation below:

    3. Manual Intervention or Human Error: It’s also possible that the order status changes incorrectly due to manual intervention or human error.

If the conflict test did not work, please provide the following to take a closer look:

It would be great if you share your System Status Report, found under WooCommerce > Status, on your site.

    Cheers!
