• Hi,

I had my first website order but the payment failed.

    Its said:

“A payment od £12.48 failed to complete with the following message: ‘pm_1UM2c5FuiXB5oUVx4qsCRW9g’: OAuth key or stripe-Accounte headr was used but API request was provided with a platform-owned payment methodID. Please ensure that the provided payment method matches the specified account.”

I have since tested and ordered something and the order and payment has gone through fine using mastercard.

Can you help explain the reason this payment might have failed and how to fix it?

Shortly after the order came through on the website, I received an email to say an email to the customers email address had not been delivered. Not sure if this is a related problem or just the customer entering the email wrong.

    Thanks

  • Hi @amzwp

The error message points to a Stripe account/connection issue rather than a general WooCommerce checkout problem.

In particular, Stripe is saying that the PaymentMethod belongs to a different Stripe account/context than the account being used to process the payment. Since your later test payment completed successfully, this may have been specific to that payment attempt rather than all payments on the store.

I would first check WooCommerce > Status > Logs and look for the payment gateway/Stripe log around the time of the failed order. That may provide more details about the request that failed.

It would also be worth confirming which Stripe/payment plugin you are using and that it is connected to the intended Stripe account. If the gateway has a disconnect/reconnect option, I would not reconnect it yet until you have checked the logs, since the existing error information may help identify what happened.

The failed customer email is likely a separate issue. If other WooCommerce emails are being delivered normally, an incorrect customer email address is one possibility.

If you can share the payment plugin name/version and the relevant log entry with any sensitive information removed, that should help narrow it down.
