oembed Vimeo is broken because Vimeo uses https now instead of http
should be a simple fix, right?

Can you provide a link to such a Vimeo video?
The URLs I’ve seen and used are still HTTP and not SSL based.
the new Vimeo is ALL in https
for example https://vimeo.com/raaphorst/videos
all video’s for any vimeo user I guess. or only plus and pro users. I am a plus user.
That landing page is https but the individual videos are http based.
Those http (not SSL) URLs are what get embeded and that does work, at least on my test installation.
please select one of my videos at https://vimeo.com/raaphorst
they all link to https
Not the videos on that landing page… I’ve embedded the first 4 videos on a test installation successfully with the http versions.
for example the first one is https://vimeo.com/42898147
and the other ones are https also!
are you maybe not a vimeo-user? or maybe not a plus/pro user? a lot of people are. trust me: it’s is ALL in https now
When I visit that URL https://vimeo.com/42898147 I get redirected to the non-SSL version. Also that’s one of the ones I embedded in my test post. 😉
It maybe different if you are logged into Vimeo. For me (not logged in) the videos are all http.
Jan, please trust me: for plus and pro users it’s https all the way! And that’s a lot of people. Oembed stops working because of this.
