The mail-problem could have many reasons. Maybe your server is not configured correctly. Do you get mails when there are new comments inside your WordPress installation?
Mh, maybe I can add a checkbox in the topic-creation-editor so authors can decide during the creation if they want to get notifications for this topic or not.

Hi, Asgaros!
It would be be just fine checkbox in the topic-creation-editor.
Thanks for the plugin!
I’ll check out my mail setting and will get back to you.
I think a checkbox in the Asgaros options would be a good idea. It would say something like “automatically subscribe users to topics they create”. I’m pretty sure BBpress has this exact feature.
I created a test account and posted a topic. The admin user did not get an email notification.
Is it working now?
The site administrator (not all administrators) only gets a notification when there is a new topic, not when there is a post.
Users also get no notifications for their own posts.

I added a checkbox to the dev-version of the plugin for this to the editor. If you check this during the creation of a post/topic or when you edit a post, it allows you to directly (un)subscribe to this topic. This checkbox is not checked by default to avoid unwanted mails.
You can find the code for it here:
