    Hi there, I’ve been playing with your plugin some more and I definitely think you need to change the way it interacts with the notification system. There’s a few issues:

    1. Notifications should be disabled when the user is actually viewing the message thread.

    2. Clicking on the BuddyBar notification takes you to the message but does not clear the notification. This means users have to go to the notifications page and delete all of the notifications, currently this can be an awful lot of notifications because of (1)

    Great, I’ll keep an eye out, I can see the problem, BP Notifications need a lot of work in order to support instant messaging, I can see that.

    I will do with them the same thing, that I did for emails.

    Notifications will be added only for offline users and will be grouped also, like
    “You received 10 new messages in Re: Plugin improvement thread”.

    Wordplus, this plugin is amazing. I’m really impressed with your work.

    I just wanted to +1 what Venutius said about notifications and share an idea for the long-term development of the plugin:

    Separate Messages from Notifications
    Since BP Better Messages makes the message system so much more active/dynamic, it might make sense to break the message notifications out from the regular notifications in the same style as Facebook. This would include a separate “Messages” counter next to the default “Notifications” counter on the BuddyPress bar. Since this would be a departure from the BuddyPress convention and might disrupt the behaviour of other plugins, it should probably be an optional setting.
    Just something for consideration.

    Thanks again for all your great work on this. I’m excited to share these features with my users.
