• Very complicated and it blocked even my own access to the backend without showing any captcha to act on. I wasted enough time with it and will delete it.

Thank you for giving our plugin a try and for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you found it difficult to use and experienced issues during setup.

To better understand what went wrong, could you please provide a bit more detail about how the plugin locked you out? Based on your description, it sounds like you may have configured Google reCAPTCHA v3 with strict checks on the login page. Since reCAPTCHA v3 works in the background without showing any visible prompts (all automated), it’s possible that the CAPTCHA check failed during login.

If that’s the case, we’d really appreciate the opportunity to take a closer look and guide you through the configuration. We’re always looking to improve the plugin, and your input would be incredibly valuable.

By ther way, you can easily find out if the version of CAPTCHA was the cause by reconfiguring the plugin with a different CAPTCHA, for example version 2. That is not automated, and all you need to do is check an “I am not a robot” checkbox.

Thank you again, and we hope to hear from you soon.

I appreciate your response. I did reinstall your plugin and set it to Version2. I deactivatet Akismet since I believe there was a conflict between the two plugins and it does show now the “I am not a robot” checkbox. However, it does not prevent spam user entries in my system. I still get dozens of spam user registrations per day.
If you have any idea how to prevent that from happening I would appreciate your support. If you get it to work, I will certainly change my review accordingly.

Thank you for giving the plugin another try @hagen99

I am glad to read that we moved one step forward 🙂 We can definitely help you with the users registrations. How are users registering to your website? Is your user regitration form the default WordPress one or are you using a third party plugin?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I think the registration is done through the default WordPress form. However, I do use Woocommerce and a booking plugin and also dozens (54) of other plugins. I don’t know how to find out which plugin is responsible for the spam registartsions.

Sorry for the late response @hagen99

The Free edition of the CAPTCHA 4WP plugin only works with the native WordPress user registration and other forms. So if you are using any third parties, which it seems that you are, then the plugin won’t work on those. That is a Premium feature.

However, before you dive into what you exactly need, I’d recommend you to learn more about your website setup and find out exactly which registration forms you have available on your website, and where registrations are coming from. Only then you can make an informed decision on what solution you need.

      I hope the above helps.

While I appreciate your response, I don’t find it very helpful and the time you need between your answers is not acceptable. I’m used to responses from software support within minutes, hours or max. 24 hours.
If this is the kind of support (“…learn more about your website setup…”) I would receive if I go for the premium version, I rather pass.

      Thank you for nothing.

Hello Hagen, this is a free plugin, and while we do our best to support all users, our response times may vary as we prioritize support for CAPTCHA 4WP Premium customers.

Regarding your technical / spam registrations issue, without knowing the source of the registrations you’re referring to, it’s impossible for us—or any vendor—to provide meaningful guidance on the plugin’s setup. We’re always happy to help, but we need more specific information about your setup to do so effectively.

We hope this clarifies things, and if you’re able to provide further details, we’ll gladly take a look.
