Not Updating via 1and1.com WordPress Script

    I get the following error code when I try to update. (FYI: I installed wordpress through a 1and1.com script.)

    Warning: copy(/homepages/31/d377373277/htdocs/app380414316/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /homepages/31/d377373277/htdocs/app380414316/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 200
    Could not copy files.

    Installation Failed

    How do I fix it? I tried the manual installation but it messed everything up.

    Are you using the updater within WordPress itself? Or, is this an updater provided by 1and1?

    Either way, it appears the server/php does not have proper permissions to update/overwrite files/directories.

    Thank you for answering me. When I go to the wp admin login page I try through there and I get the error message above. I’m going to read the link you provided and I’ll let you know if it works. Again, thank you.

    Hi ,

    I have the exact same error message while trying to upgrade to 3.2x from 3.1, . My host is 1 and 1. I was using the updater provided with word press. How can I resolve this?

    make sure they are running php 5.x.x and not 4.x.x

    Hi Samuel, sorry for the late reply. I’ve updated to PHP 5.x.x And this is error message that I’m getting. Any Ideas?
