• This plugin is claiming to be the “next-generation of Social Networking plugin for WordPress” and the description says “You’ll get an activity stream, profiles, photo and video-sharing, location-sharing, moods, messages and so much more. Social network for WordPress – in one single click!”.

Well, if you believe that and you install this plugin, you might be a little angry for them wasting your time. In order for the photo and video-sharing, location-sharing, moods, messages and so much more to be added, you must pay them. And that is not just “one single click!”.

    Let’s keep it real people.

I’m all for the hype, but when you mislead from the gate, that just isn’t the right way to do business. I don’t care if you do try to clean it up further down in your description. Your marketing approach tries to capitalize on the first paragraph getting attention, and that is great. But when most people turn off after those first few lines, and make a decision, you have mislead them into believing they are getting something they are not.

What you are offering in the core is basic (very basic) functionality. And that isn’t much different from any of the other “attempts” to “compete” with BuddyPress.

    Hi Dot 07,

WOW! That’s a shame you feel that way. We certainly worked hard to build a great product that most users are already finding useful. Our intention is to be clear about what’s on offer, which is why we took the time in paragraph five to let potential users know:

“The PeepSo core is totally free. We encourage you to install it and see how it works. Keep in mind, some features are not available on the free version. There are currently seven other plugins available for a pretty low price. Installing all of them will give you all the features that PeepSo has to offer. ”

I’m not sure we could say it any other way or any clearer. I understand that we can’t please 100% of people 100% of the time and it looks like this is one of those times. That’s is a shame, because the PeepSo core is a great product and “free”

Thanks for highlighting your concerns and minimising any confusion for other potential new users that may not read past the first few lines as well.

I hope you do enjoyed evaluating the free core version of PeepSo either way.

    Have a great day 🙂

    LOL..

I appreciate you making the change in the description to more accurately present your plugin. That is a good thing. That’s all the acknowledgement I needed.

I wish you well with your project.

I have evaluated it. It doesn’t do what I or those I do business with are looking for. But, it does have a fairly nice appearing interface on the frontend.

Ummm, I don’t considered paid products a comparison to BuddyPress myself. Paid is paid and free is free. Saying one thing and meaning another is not right either. So I would agree with him. Just another Ultimate Member way of trying to make money off the people that want a member community site. I will stick with BuddyPress.

@ Michael Bryner – PeepSo is worth every penny and more and their customer support is much more superior than BuddyPress’s forum system. It’s a no brainer if you’re building a site that needs to be set up now, not sometime next month when your forum question gets answered.

    @HPMemSite,

This review is NOT an opportunity to pitch a premium version of this free plugin.

As a free plugin, this “alternative” to BuddyPress is seriously lacking any comparable functionality.

If a person doesn’t know how to set up BuddyPress and/or the hundreds of free addons for BuddyPress, there are ample FREE forums and tutorials throughout the internet to help out.

Since you chose to come to my review and try to pitch for the paid version of this plugin, for the price one would have to pay for the paid features of THIS plugin that same person can easily get the help they need to make an outstanding social networking solution using BuddyPress without having to pay for any future years.

One can also integrate with multiple other plugins to control access to their Paid membership site using BuddyPress.

You’ve already provided your own review of the paid version of this plugin here on WordPress.org. This review isn’t about the paid version. And you shouldn’t come here and try to make it a review of any paid version of a plugin.

This thread looks made by someone angry for not being able to afford the product, not because the product malfunctions, or it is buggy, etc. If someone cant pay for it does not mean the product is bad.

Any way, anyone that writes a software has its own legitimate right to charge for it if they want.
