No Write Permissions?

    Hi there, Today i tried to use wordpress for the first time, and i uploaded all the files onto my Raspberry Pi (running a Debian Package) which was previously already running a website (Decided to change to wordpress).

    However, i was trying to install a them, and i noticed that wordpress didn’t have the rite permissions to create files etc. How do i go about fixing this, without CHMOD’ing it and allowing full access to my website. Is there any FTP setting’s in wordpress’ config file?

    Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Watch the end folder but its an ownership thing in /var/www
    You must be a root user in that folder using cd to locate where you are. You need basic terminal skills. Well maybe just a bit more.

    Asked for FTP settings when trying to install a plugin or a theme? This is usually caused by the instance not being able to access with the correct permissions. The fix is simple!

    pi$ cd /var/www
    pi$ sudo chown -R www-data:www-data wordpress.
    Raspberry pi as a tiny webserver with WordPress !!! Wow !

    “pi$ cd /var/www”
    “pi$ sudo chown -R www-data:www-data wordpress”
