I really hope someone can answer these questions.. I searched other posts but found nothing. I’m using the latest 4.2.1 version.

I cannot add my own theme or genesis as there is no add button in the themes. I can switch to one of the wordpress themes. But I want my own genesis and child theme.

    How do I fix this?

Also I cannot change any code/php because there is no editor button under appearance either.

I have another blog with latest version and all these things I need are there so something is amiss. But what? I do recall the “add” button was there when I started that blog. It was easy for me. Now I’m pulling out my hair!

Someone please help me figure this out? I really need to get things up and running and can’t with things as they are. And I prefer my paid theme.

Thanks in advance if you have answers for me.

I can switch to one of the wordpress themes.

This suggest your genesis theme is broken/incompatible

But I want my own genesis and child theme.

    – you’ll be more likely to find a good answer from your theme’s developers, for they have the access to its code.

my genesis is not broken. I cannot upload any themes or genesis. There is no add button where there should be in the themes page. And it’s on one of my other blogs. so i verified it was not the 4.2.1 update itself.

what site are you referring to?

    is that a WordPress.com site?

are you logged in with administrator rights?

    Hi,

I’m blogging with adminitrator rights. When I am in my cpanel there are lots of things missing.

When I go into appearance > themes, there are options to use wordpress free themes. Usually right beside the number of themes there is an option to “add” theme and upload your own.

There is also no editor tab under settings so I cannot edit any PHP if needed to correct any info.

There is also no tab anywhere that I can upgrade wordpress unless I do it manually.

BTW I double checked what version I have. it’s 4.0.4

Ugh it’s amess in here. My cpanel on my other blog does not have any of these issues at all.

One last note… I even went into my top right of screen where my account info is and I cannot switch from there either. No options to do so. ( I saw other members directed to try that so I tried)

I meant there is no “add” button beside the free theme as usual. So I can’t upload my own theme.

Oh good grief… sorry.. I am on wordpress.org I refuse to use wordpress.com I came in here through the links for support. 🙂

I am having a similar issue – there is no “add theme” button show under Appearance>Themes. I am also using WordPress.org
