I’m getting a lot of Russian gambling spam on one of my blogs, so I thought this plugin might help. No such luck! It has the ability to auto-filter based on “conditions”, but the only condition is the age of the comment. What??? Not good enough. I’ll find something else, or write my own.

Hi @etfb , thank you for taking the time to leave this comment. It was fair.

In the old version the only condition was the age of the comment, and that wasn’t good enough for spam like yours. We’ve spent the last few weeks rebuilding it, and version 1.1 now has far smarter conditions:

    • Keyword rules: whole word, word start (casino*), anywhere (*casino*) or regular expressions, in English, Russian or any other language
    • Writing-system detection: flag comments written mostly in Cyrillic, Chinese, Korean and more
    • Link and length conditions: comments with several links, a filled-in website, or only a few words
    • Ready-made rules for Gambling spam (English and Russian) and Russian/Cyrillic text, so you can start in one click
    • Test on existing comments before you switch a rule on, so you can see exactly what it would catch
    • Quarantine: caught comments are hidden but restorable, and are deleted after the number of days you set

We’d be grateful if you gave it another try on your blog. If it still misses anything, tell us and we’ll work on it. Thanks again!
