• I need to create a table functionality on a page a have – i.e. with rows and columns. However, I cannot see any table functionality as part of the WYSIWYG editor in WP (TinyMCE). Do I need to upgrade the editor, or what?

    Thanks,
    Olafur

  • No built in Tables function with the stock editor – don’t know about the other editors.

You can paste in HTML code – but not all Themes like that – one of my themes does not like to have borders so pasting in HTML code did not give me what I wanted.

I ended up using a Plug-In “WP-Table Reloaded” that made a nice set of tables for me. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-table-reloaded/ I would think there are some other Plug-in’s but this one did give me nice tables with alternating shading on the rows.

I had a problem with formatting (my error) but the author seems to check the Plug-in’s forum a few times a day, so a question posted there was answered and I was able to make the table I wanted – WP-Table Reloaded has many options and I just needed to turn one of the advanced ones off – anyway – good support

Thanks, I will install this plugin. Still find it strange that the default editor cannot handle tables.
