    We have the paid version.
    However, ever since we started using BackupGuard we have been getting Timeout Errors; subsequent to that I contacted our hosting provider, and the they said they cannot up the timeout settings.

    Next, I followed the instructions that said..
    //QUOTE
    try to activate the “Reloads enabled” option in the settings (to compress your data chunk by chunk). Then disable any security plugin which could prevent nopriv ajax calls and try again to create a new backup. If you still see this error, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help you figure it out ASAP.
    //END QUOTE

    That did not work either.
    Although there is a backup being created on the local server, there is no way to restore from that backup – since BackupGuard Pro is not providing the restore button next to the backup.

    Also, the automatic backups always fail – the only way to have it make a successful backup is to tell it to do a manual backup.
    But even when I do that, I tried downloading the .SQL backup file to my server using my FTP client, and it reports the file does not exist! Also, there is not a compressed backup file that I can make out there. So there’s no way for me to manually restore the site from the backups it claims to have saved.

    Right now I am resorting to manually downloading the wp-content, wp-config, and (using phpmyadin) the SQL files to my home computer using my own FTP client to do so.

    What’s the point of haveing BackupGuard if I have to resort to this method?
    What’s the point of using BackupGuard if the scheduled backups do not work.

    I also don’t appreciate that I have to use this forum, on the hope that you will deem this post worthy of your attention. Not when we are Pro users of the plugin!

    I will not re-up once our subscription is up, unless this is resolved.

    You should try to reach me for further communications via my normal email address, at mendocinotim (at) gmail.com – or you can call me (I will give you a number via email, if you email me).

    Thank you.

    The owner of this site (I am her developer) wanted me to block all plugin updates.
    However, after writing the above support request, I disabled update blocking, and made the manual backup described above, and then updated all the themes and plugins.
    That included updating the BackupGuard plugin.

    Once that was done, I ran your the backup again – using both methods:
    1. I ran a backup sans any cloud methods – and that now seems to be working okay (the restore button now appears as it should).
    2. I also ran a second backup using FTP – and that too seems to be working now (restore button now appears there too).

    However, I then downloaded your compressed backup file, and attempted to decompress it, by changing the file extension (first) to .gzip, and then (secind) to .zip. Neither extension seems to work – hence I cannot guarantee that I have a way to restore the site from your backup unless I run it from your plugin’s interface. Are you using a non-proprietary compression method so I can dee that the backup it made it solid?

    Please advise on this final question.
    Thanks.

    To use SGBP extractor you firstly need to download and install the mentioned software on your PC. You can download it here: https://backup-guard.com/downloads/

    After installing the SGBP extractor, you need to choose the respective archive you want to extract and also choose the destination path where you want to extract. More details can be found in the following link: https://backup-guard.com/products/backup-wordpress/doc/extract-sgbp

    Hope you find this helpful!

    We have been trying to set up SFTP to save our backups off-site.
    Your SFTP settings looks like it requires a password in addition to the “Private”(?) key information.
    I try it here using the public key – without the required password, as there is not one. What am I doing wrong, and why does it ask for the PRIVATE key – that should always be private?

    Here’s a short video to demonstarte what we’re doing, and the result..
