No order confirmation at checkout

Hi,
When customers buy products from my online shop the order goes through but there is no order confirmation page, leading to confusion on their end on whether the payment was successful.
They do receive order confirmation emails but these can get caught in spam filters or take a minute or two to come through so we need confirmation on the web page too.
Does anyone know how this could be resolved?
