Found a clue … this is only happening in forms that have File upload fields.
I cannot reproduce the issue. Is the field “Success message” set? Do you see the success message with a non-AJAX form that does not contain a file upload?
Hi bgermann, thanks for investigating. Yes same thing happens with non-ajax form. This only happens with forms that contain file upload fields.

Hi bgermann, Just to follow up, any forms that have file upload fields produce empty success or error fields.(this seen on several sites)
