I have a problem with the Facebook Pixel not working properly on my WordPress WooCommerce store through this plugin. I installed this plugin to WordPress, followed the installation steps shown by the plugin, nothing special. But, for some reason, it gives me a PageView warning in the Pixel Helper Extension. And I don’t receive any data in from my Pixel.

I haven’t been able to find a solution. I’ve tried using different Pixels and reinstalling everything, both didn’t work.

This the website I have problems with.

I hope any of you can help me.

  • Hi @drwebdesign,

Thanks for writing in with your question! I had a look at the site and can see the same error. It seems that for some reason the Facebook tracking code is being triggered before the event tracker has had a chance to initialize, so I do see an error in the browser when looking at the home page.

I’m not sure if this is related to a known issue that we have logged, or if there is a nuance with the theme that’s in use that could be causing this.

We have a workaround for the known issue that involves adding some custom code to the site in order to force the event tracker to be loaded earlier than it currently does. I think it would be a good idea to try this first, see if the same issue occurs, and if so, we can dig into this further!

So to start with, could you please add the following snippet to your site? https://gist.github.com/4a932bcf481420ad20d563fe7462c752#file-sv_fb_for_woocommerce_adjust_apply_filters_hook-php

Please be sure you know how to add custom code to your site. Personally, I like the free Code Snippets plugin.

Could you let me know once that’s been done so we can take another look?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

I have added the code snippet, but nothing seems to change.

Thanks @drwebdesign! That was good to rule out.

The console.log line you added wouldn’t work from the PHP context, though I presume this was added afterward to check if the snippet was working. So that wouldn’t have prevented the snippet from working to begin with.

The next test would be to temporarily switch to a default theme to see if we’re looking at a plugin conflict or a theme conflict that might be causing this.

Would you please be able to switch to a default theme such as TwentyTwenty and let me know if you see the same issue?

    Cheers!

Is there another way to check what’s wrong? My site is currently up and running with visitors at almost any time and I don’t want to break my site by changing the theme.

I could download my site to my computer and run it locally, but that would change the whole setup and I’m not sure that even works with Pixel. Running it on a different host is also kinda hard because the website is way too big to be easily migrated.

    Hi @drwebdesign,

We could also create a staging site that copies the database of the main site completely. This will not require setting up the plugin again and should allow us to test and replicate the same issue, and then test it with a default theme.

Does your host provide a staging site we could work with? If not, I’d be happy to clone your site to our staging provider. To do so, I would need to first install a small plugin on the main site to initiate the copy process. This would require a temporary admin for your live site to begin with and then I could carry on troubleshooting on the cloned version.

If you do have a staging site of your own, and would prefer to share details of this privately, please could you raise a support request via our support form and let me know?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Hey @drwebdesign,

It has been a long time since we heard from you, so I’m going to mark this topic as resolved.

If you’re still experiencing issues please take a look at our documentation for more information and create a new thread if you have further questions.

    Thanks,
    Tamara 🙂
