I’m getting no thumbnails in my gallery – just the file link (name of the file)….which WORKS, but I’d love to get the thumbnail. I tried to contact my hosting service (Bluehost) about Ghostscript and Imagik, but no response yet. Do I need those two services loaded to my site (?) for Document Gallery to function correctly? I could find no documentation on Ghostscript or Imagik on Bluehost’s repository of help topics. Is it something I can load directly to my WP site?
I’m sorry you have to answer such elementary questions from non-techie people that think they can start a site. I’m using Frontend Uploader for users to upload document files – and I’m able to get them to my media file. Now, it’s just getting images to appear instead of title links. Thanks, in advance, for your help.

    Hi,

Can you provide a link to place where you’ve got a gallery w/ just links? You should always have an image, even if you don’t have the necessary thumbnail generation tools (eg: IMagick/Ghostscript), the image may just be the default PDF icon instead of an actual document preview. If you’re not getting that it means something is going wrong.

Here is a page with some test files:

    http://groupfitnessworkouts.com/?page_id=14

Hopefully you can open that from your computer – the site is not “in production” yet.

This is a link to the backend page (?):

If you can’t access the pages, I’ll turn it live so you can get there. Thanks!

It looks like the shortcode you’re including does not match any documents. The links you see are manually added links — not from DG.

What does your dg shortcode look like?

It’s super complicated. I add [dg] to the pages that need a document gallery.

Maybe I need to do something more than type 4 keys? Oops.
    Thanks again.

Ok. If you are just using [dg] and not getting any matches then that means you don’t have any attachments on the pages where the shortcode is being used. You either need to use the “Add Media” button on the page where you want the DG displayed or you need to go through the Media Management tab in the Dashboard and set the parent page for each attachment you want to be included.
