No ' Gallery' option in sidebar | WordPress.org

I just installed Nextgen and activated it. There is no Gallery option on the left side of my admin panel.

Any ideas what I might have done wrong?

you have possibly installed the wrong version of nextgen. (perhaps the sidebar widgets only folder?) try downloading the full version written by Alex Rabe from here: http://alexrabe.de/wordpress-plugins/nextgen-gallery/
and then use that zipped folder. then after activating you should see “gallery” option on left.
