    Hi
I’d really love to make this work, because Mailpoet is the absolutely best plugin of the kind that I’ve tried.
But – even just after it actually worked, I did a second test via the subscription form on our home page, and the problems are still there – though they don’t appear every time

    I HAVE SET UP
    – one form (with first name and email) and added a few test subscribers to one list.
    – made custom pages for welcome (registration confirmed) and for editing/cancelling subscriptions.

    THE PROBLEMS:
    1 A
In the subscription form, no confirmation message is displayed, though I’ve set Forms > Settings > After submission > Show message (have added message). Only visible reactions are the progress dots and that the form fields turn greenish.
    1 B
The new subscriber is sent off to the edit subscription page (which she shouldn’t), and the form there also displays more fields than my subscription form does (a last name field)
    1 C
The edit subscription page is populated with John Doe and demo@mailpoet.com, not the subscriber’s data. (So: It is also impossible for her to edit her subscription)
    2A
The new subscriber most often does not receive a confirmation email. (Have checked spam folder etc)
    2B
If she receives it and clicks confirm, she is sent off to the correct Welcome page (fine).
But: The new subscriber is not registered.

I HAVE TRIED to add the form using a shortcode, as a saved BB module or widget without finding any consistency. Most often the problems come back.
    – deleted the cache each time
    – tried to deactivate those plugins who have caused any conflicts previously. I trust the rest.
    – having everything is up to date (even php 7.3).
    – downgrade Mailpoet from 3.34.4 to 3.34.3 (left it there for now).

    Still stumbling. Any ideas please?
    Thanks

  • Hi there @kjetilgf,

We’d be happy to help. I’ve checked your site and couldn’t find the subscription form.

Can you post a link to the page where we can signup, please? We can then check this for you and see what’s happening.

    Thanks!

Hi – thanks for coming back to me
The form should drop down after 3 sec on https://in2it.no and you should see it in the sidebar on https://in2it.no/blogg
My guess is that there’s one issue causing all the weird behaviour. Please tell me if you need more details, like a plugin list or anything. You may use the contact form on the site 🙂
    Thanks

    Hi
    Did you find the forms…?
Would be great to solve this – I’d really like o use Mailpoet
    Thanks

    Hi there @kjetilgf,

We’ve done some testing and the form worked correctly for us (https://take.ms/xL33B)

What sending method are you using? We received the signup confirmation without any issues, but it could be tied to the sending method if you’re having deliverability issues.

Finally, the manage subscription page will always show “John Doe” if visited directly by an admin as a “preview” and won’t show subscriber details unless the user is logged in and a subscriber.

    The manage subscription page is only populated with subscriber details in two conditions;

Condition 1: The subscriber is logged in and belongs to at least 1 MailPoet list.

Condition 2: The subscriber is logged out, but has clicked the “manage subscription” link in a sent newsletter.

Any questions or issues let us know! 🙂

Thanks a lot for your thorough testing and feedback
I’ve just been busy with other sites and had to let this wait.
I’ve tested too, and not being logged in made things work almost perfectly (thanks!): Both the admin and the subscriber receive the emails they should (the most important part 🙂
    BUT:
If the subscriber wants to alter or cancel their subscription, they encounter a problem:
The links in her welcome email send her to the correct edit subscription page, with the correct credentials – but doing anything there is in vain:
1 – saving a cancellation only sends her to the same page (might be normal)
2 – More important: checking in the subscribers’ panel (in an other browser), her subscription is not cancelled.
(When trying to cancel she makes sure to select the list to be unlisted from.)
Not really a big issue, but nice if that part too works.
    Thanks

    Correction:
I overlooked an important detail, so forget my question above:
The subscriber is in fact unsubscribed, she just remains listed in the subscribers’ list (as unsubscribed).
The only question remaining is if the subscriber should receive some sort of confirmation that she is unsubscribed?
Thanks again – apologize for the confusion

    Hi there @kjetilgf,

Currently we don’t send confirmation mails confirming the unsubscription as it’s generally seen as bad practice as that unsubscribe action is seen as the user not wanting to receive any more emails at all. 🙂

    Thanks!

    That makes sense
    Thank you
