• For some reason there is no section to leave a comment under any of my blog posts. I don’t have the editor option under my ‘Appearances’ tab, so I’m not sure how to fix it. I have also been unable to connect my site to Disqus.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,
make sure you don’t have your comments disabled from Settings->Discussion. Have a look here https://codex.wordpress.org/Comments_in_WordPress and let me know if you need additional help. After enabling it you really dont need to add any Disqus code since the Disqus plugin will automatically replace native comment system.

Now, for the editor option, this is probably disabled from your hosting provider, please contact them and they will probably bring it back or provide an alternative on how to edit your files.

    Hi,

My comments are not disabled, so I’m not sure why else it’s not showing up.

As far as Disqus goes, when I try to install using the installation token I receive this message:

“An error occurred trying to configure your site. Make sure the Disqus plugin is installed and activated, and that your site is publicly accessible.”

The plugin is installed and activated and my site it publicly accessible.

Thank you for taking the time to help!

    Hi there,
this seems to be an issue with your installation or the Disqus plugin. Can you switch temporary to the default WordPress theme and let me know if the issue persists?

Where can I find the default WordPress theme? I don’t see it under my installed themes.

    Hi there,
pick any of these https://www.wordpress.org/themes/search/twenty/ here.

Hi I tried using a default theme and I’m still receiving the same message when trying to install.

    Hi there,
Well this means its not a theme related issue, so I suggest to focus on Disqus plugin or your hosting settings. Make sure you don’t have any security plugins enabled that might prevent Disqus from connecting to your WordPress Installation.

    Hi,

Turns out it was iThemes Security that was blocking Disqus from connecting to the site. Disqus is now installed, but still I don’t see it (or any comment section) on the site. I have the option to edit my theme now, so maybe iThemes was blocking that as well.

    Hi there,
first disable all other plugins and check if the comment section appear.
Another test you can do is again switch temporary themes and check if again the comment section appear.
Keep in mind that you dont have to make any code changes to see the disqus comment box since its is handled by the plugin itself.
Let me know if you need additional help on this.

Hi I tried both and I still am unable to see a section for comments.

    Hi there,
have you tried for plugin conflicts https://www.cssigniter.com/kb/checking-for-plugin-conflicts/?

Have you checked my initial suggestion on having comments enabled from Settings->Discussion. Have a look here https://codex.wordpress.org/Comments_in_WordPress

    Hi,

Yes, I’ve disabled all plugins multiple times with no luck. The comments are already enabled in Discussion. I do have the option to edit my theme now (Appearance -> Editor)

The odd part is that the comment section shows up on my product pages, but not for any of my blog posts. Ex: http://www.bloomsista.com/product/rrr-long-sleeved-bubbly-tee/

Perhaps there’s something wrong with the code that I can change?

    Hi there,
Can you navigate to a post and via screen options (More info here http://www.cssigniter.com/docs/article/screen-options/) enable the discussion box?
    Then enable comments there https://prnt.sc/kz9h5l.

Also make sure you don’t have this option selected from Settings->Discussion.
    https://prnt.sc/kz9gg2

Finally can you create a new post and check if comments appear there?

    Hi,

Unchecking “Automatically close comments” worked! Thank you so much! Last question, is there a way to move the comment section so that it falls directly under the post? It is currently under the “You May Also Like” and “Next/Previous Post” sections, and I’d like it to go above them. Thanks again!
