• The sorting is a nice option but when you have over 50 FAQ’s this gets a bit tiresome, a drag and drop and alphabetical option would be very useful…hence my 4* other wise it would be 5 star for sure…

    Hi Ernst,

Thanks so much for your kind comments. I will look at adding an alphabetical sort option in a future update. It’s a good idea.

Meanwhile, are you aware that if you click the little triangle at the top of the Order column that you can quickly see the order that you have set for your FAQs? This might make it easier for you to check on and to set your ordering.

Also, I have briefly tested the Post Types Order plugin and found that it works well with FAQ Concertina. This will give you the drag and drop option you mentioned that will enable you to re-order your FAQs more easily:

Hi, Thanks for the tip and the work around.. ( although I try to minimize the number of plugins) that worked for me. Although you listed it as a FAQ, I use it as a guest directory for my AIRBNB Locations, each location has an iPad and that page with your plugin is the opening page and that works great for that!

So you can market this plugin for lots of other uses I guess.

And when you are updating.. add a search function 😉

    Hi Ernst

Glad the plugin worked for you. Don’t worry about having an extra plugin in this particular case as the Post Types Order plugin only works in the dashboard and has no influence on the public facing website, so your visitors won’t experience a slower site on account of it.

Thanks for the suggestion. You’re right that the plugin can be used for any expandable content. Although intended primarily for FAQs I’ll mention that in my description next time I do an update.

I’m wondering whether there will be much call for a search function. I think most users will have a relatively small number of FAQs. Perhaps it’s something I could put in a “pro” version for power users who might have very many FAQs.

Where were you thinking that the search and alphabetical sort would go? Are they functions you want in the dashboard, or would you like the public site to have a search function so visitors can search through the FAQs, and the public site to display FAQs in alphabetical order?

    regards

The search function is useful I guess for everyone.. I would not want to read through all the fat to get an answer, thinking further along those lines the search can come up with multiple answers on a keyword search. again I see this plugin potential bigger than just a few FAQ’s…

Search should go above the FAQ I guess. public view
I would not need alphabetical order to go public. but why not have the option (tckbox)

In that case you can get an alphabetical sort in the dashboard already by hovering the mouse pointer over the “Title” header until the small triangle appears. Click it and it will sort your content alphabetically by title (or in the case of FAQs, question).

    Sorry I was not clear,

The View on the frontend has to be in alphabetical order, but the user does not need the ability to sort on alphabetical order him/herself

    Hi Ernst

I’m happy to report that I have just uploaded version 1.1 of FAQ Concertina. I have implemented your suggestion and you can now sort FAQs alphabetically. You can configure this in the Settings page.

    regards
    Michael
