I am looking to use a security plugin for my AWS instance hosted websites, but we are using an NGINX server and I know a lot of these plugins really rely upon the htaccess file. Is there a recommended workflow for using this plugin on a WP site with nginx? Or is there a preferred plugin?

    Hello Symphosize,
Wordfence should work fine with your setup. Wordfence is tested with NGINX. You can read our system requirements here. With NGINX there are two things you want to make sure are configured correctly. You need to make sure Wordfence gets IPs correctly. Here are instructions for how to determine and set that. Since Wordfence 6 we have a new Web Application Firewall that loads before any other code loads on a server to protect more efficiently. The WAF configuration procedure creates a user.ini file in the root of your site and with NGINX you want to make sure it’s hidden correctly. Instructions for that can be found here. Let me know if you have any more questions.
