Hi supertrooper2,
Thanks for your comments!
The current new NGG Public Uploader is compatible with latest NGG version, which is code incompatible with previous NGG and hence, with NextCellent.
Please see http://wordpress.org/plugins/nextgen-public-uploader/changelog/
One workaround is to download the previous NGG Public Uploader version from the repository, V1.6.1 – 4.25.2011, from developer tab
http://wordpress.org/plugins/nextgen-public-uploader/developers/
That should work. Tell me how it went.
I’ll see the main differences between both plugin versions to suggest a version compatible with both plugins. However, that could be difficult to implement.
Hi supertroop2,
Ok I found something.
The plugin is expecting exactly the following string on the activated plugins:
!in_array( ‘nextgen-gallery/nggallery.php’,……
From my understanding, the code is assuming the plugin will be installed on nextgen-gallery folder
If you have installed Nextcellent, I’d suggest to deactivate it , rename the plugin folder to nextgen-gallery and reactivate it. That should be enough.
I couldn’t get deeper than that, so even if the plugin works, it could end up failing for some compatibility issue. However, it seems the main changes were toward an improved security concerns and rewriting the admin panel.
I’d appreciate if you can do that and tell everybody if that worked or failed. Then I will try to contact plugin’s author suggesting some minor improvements according the findings due your help.
Thank you!
Hi WPReady
I downgraded NGG Public Uploader to version 1.6.1 but NextCellent didn’t work even with this older version.
Then I de-activated the NextCellent plugin, renamed the NextCellent plugin folder to nextcellent-gallery-nextgen-legacy and re-activated the NextCellent plugin.
The NGG Public Uploader did manage to upload a photo successfully but the title and image did not show up on the page where the shortcode [nggallery id=333] was embedded.
So I de-activated NextCellent, re-activated NextGen Gallery and the title and caption showed up on the page correctly.
Do you think changes to NextCellent are required? For the moment I will stay with the old version of NextGen 1.9.13
Thanks in advance for your support.
Hi supertrooper2,
thanks for your comments and tests.
I will be testing both plugins side by side and I let you know any findings.
Wow, thank you I was looking for a solution, I will try this.
Supertrooper or wpready can you explain exactly what you mean by this:
“Then I de-activated the NextCellent plugin, renamed the NextCellent plugin folder to nextcellent-gallery-nextgen-legacy and re-activated the NextCellent plugin.”
Are you saying you renamed the Nextcellnt plugin to a different name and where is the folder to be clear?
Thanks
Guys, thanks for the instructions. All I did was do this as instructed.
“One workaround is to download the previous NGG Public Uploader version from the repository, V1.6.1 – 4.25.2011, from developer tab
http://wordpress.org/plugins/nextgen-public-uploader/developers/ ” then downloaded the version. I erased the nextgen public upload files and replaced with the 1.6.1 version, then deactivated the nextgen public uploader plugin, then reactivated it and bingo.. can now use the nextgen public uploader for customers to upload again.. THANK YOU, THANK YOU…
