NextGen plugin disappeared from dash after update | WordPress.org

After I updated the plugin, I got an error message that the plugin couldn’t be found, and it’s also no longer listed on my plugin dashboard. I went in via FTP, and the folder is still there under wp-content. Can anyone tell me what happened, and how to fix it?

@cdorfmandance – That reads like something went wrong with the update (for whatever the cause may have been), you may be able to recover by simply re-installing manually via FTP by just over-writing the existing installation.

Ok- but will I lose all my existing galleries? We have a lot that were created over years of work.

Also, how do I reinstall via FTP?
