NextGen Gallery Discription lost after update…

    Hi there,

    My images, titles and descriptions were displaying fine until I upgraded to NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati Version 2.0.66.27.

    All the images and file names are still there, but ALL the image descriptions are gone. I have over 30 000 images and do not have the time to go and update each one individually.

    Is there a fix for this to get the descriptions to display without having to go and add the one by one?? Maybe a way to use the file name to automatically create the description? Because the description was basically the file name without the hyphons…

    And does a search plugin exist that searches the nextgen gallery?

    @tnngrudi – This reads as though you were using a custom template and/or you have changed your galleries to use the default display(s). What version of NextGEN Gallery did you update from?

    I have updated from Version 2.0.66.27. to the latest version earlier today. The template i am using isn’t custom, it is called Statua. I don’t think we are using default displays. The description for all the images has just disappeared, it is not showing in the description box in the back-end anymore. I have tried all the gallery displays.

    @tnngrudi – Are you saying the actual information found in each gallery for each image’s description has been removed/erased; or, is it simply not displaying on your site for your visitors to see?

    Also, a link to your site with a specific gallery where this is happening may be useful as well.

    Yes, the actual information found in each gallery for each image’s description has been removed/erased.

    There are one or two images with descriptions, cause i added them manually.

    Also, is there a way to change the title when you open a gallery?
    When you open an album it displays the album name, and when you open a gallery within that album it still shows the album title instead of the gallery title….

    @tnngrudi – I’m really having trouble understanding this … there is nothing in the installation / update process that would specifically target the description meta data of any images within NextGEN Gallery.

    Do you have any other plugins active that could be affecting the database?

    Please feel free to submit a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) on this issue with your site specifics. If the description details are now actually gone there is not much we can offer in the way of restoring them (although if you have a full back-up of your site prior to this instance that should work for you) but we would like to have a closer look all the same.
