NextGen 2.0.40 not working on WP 3.8 – "Setup plugin???"

    I recently upgraded both NextGen and WP to the most recent versions. For some reason this “Broke” NextGen and my galleries will not display. I have enabled/activated, disabled, un-installed and re-installed NextGen at least a half-dozen times and regardless, this is what appears on the page where the gallery should be visible: ” Carousel
    The plugin for the selected carousel mode needs to be activated (FlickrRSS or NextGen Gallery). Setup Plugin →” The link simply takes me to the plug-in page.

    The galleries are in WP Content, and I’ve checked and double-checked all of my settings. Please advise.
