Newbie – Trying to learn Theme Customizing – Please Help!!

I have the theme travel magazine and I added a c oonnect with facebook button, but it placed the button randomly in the sidebar location. You can see here at my blog TwoDayGetaway.com

Also I would like to get a custom facebook connect button and put it up near the top navigation rather than in the sidebar, is this easy to do? Can someone give me some pointers please??
