    Have you tried:
    – deactivating ALL plugins
    – switching to the default Twenty Fifteen theme to rule out any theme specific issue
    – Also, ask your hosting provider if any of their SMTP filtering rules have changed recently.

    Sending a test email only proves that the system can send a test email.

    Who provides your email service? Domain name of your email?

    Well, it is working now. It must have been a plugin. Unfortunately, I don’t know which one because I noticed I had a bunch in there I wasn’t using anymore and just did some cleaning up.

    Then I retested the registration and it sent right away.
