new to Wp

I need help, i am new to WP and i am trying to create my own theme and one question i have is my sidebar currently i want to add custom links like back to my home page then a couple other pages. how would i edit this or where do i find the code to edit these catagories into my sidebar. Also i know this isnt the write section but if you can point me in the right direction on how to creat my own custom theme easyly. thanks
