• I recently went from site name.wordpress.com to sitename.com. Problem is whenever a post is done at the top it displays posted by crazy4subscriptionboxes@yahoo.com which was the email I used when I was on sitename.wordpress.com. When I got my own domain name I also got an email Beckie@sitename.com. I have no idea why my blog would display the yahoo email as the poster. When I changed to have a domain name I provided my new email and site name to be set up as the blogs username. Unfortunately the system does not let me change the username – says it can’t be changed. If I can’t I will have to cancel this blog and start all over again because I can’t have my posts being done with my yahoo email as the name of the poster. For one it isn’t professional and I purposely got a domain name to look more professional. Second, I will be deleting the yahoo email. I don’t want people to contact me and get emails bounced back. Please tell me there is some way to have wordpress change the username for me. If not, oh boy I will have to start over 🙁 Thank you

First, are you still hosted at WordPress.com? If so you need to ask this at http://support.wordpress.com .

If you are using a self hosted WordPress.org site:

Do you have a user that uses the old email and a user that uses the new email?

If so, and both are admin, then delete the old user and assign that old user’s posts to the new user.

Set up a new user with the correct information and give her admin privileges. Then you can delete the other user.

When I attempt to do so I get this error. Perhaps I can’t delete the original user? I will just post from the other user I guess unless you have other suggestions.

    Error:

You have specified this user for deletion:

ID #1: crazy4subscriptionboxes@yahoo.com The current user will not be deleted.
There are no valid users selected for deletion.

You need to use different email addresses for each user. Then once user is deleted you can change the email of the new user.

They do have different email addresses associated with them and same error
You have specified this user for deletion:

ID #1: crazy4subscriptionboxes@yahoo.com The current user will not be deleted.
There are no valid users selected for deletion.

I wonder if it because I am in the current users “profile” so I can’t deleted it. Meaning at the top right it displays the user name of the profile I wish to delete. Perhaps I need to be in the other profile to delete it. There are other apps that won’t allow you to delete when you’re currently running it. Perhaps this is the same? Of course I can find no way to switch users so I am logged in as the new user I created.

Yes you have to be in the new user you created as a new admin.

I figured that much and have been searching for an hr how to do that 🙁 think their would be a quick drop down to switch users. No such luck. I tried logging out and then logging in as new user and that did’t work. Any suggestions?

I tried logging out and then logging in as new user and that did’t work.

That is how you do it. What did not work? You used the new user name and password?

Try it in a different browser.
