• Hi,

I just switch from GoDaddy Website builder to WordPress. So yesterday I asked my friend to sign me to a hosting company which is HostGator to get a hosting. He used the same credentials that I used when I signed up to wordpress.org, I do not know why but for some reason I cannot get in to the admin portal of the website from hostgator using their link and I do not also know how to link that site to this account I am using now.

I hope it makes sense. Thank you so much guys.

  • The short answer is to get your friend to sort out your problem.

As an aside it is always a bad idea to reuse credentials on different sites, it means that a security leak on one impacts the others. It also has the effect of confusing people about which service does what.

Maybe your friend created your hostgator account but did not install WordPress.

Why didn’t you install WordPress at GoDaddy ?

I think everyone is confused now.
