Had you made changes to theme files? Did you backup before updating?
That is no fun at all. Has happened to me one too many times.
Sometimes your hosting will keep automatic backups of your files. I recommend contacting them to see if you’re paying for that feature.
For the future, create a child theme to prevent this from happening again.

Okay so for the little blurb about not posting in caps because it’s considered yelling…I KNOW!!!!!!!!…why do you think I wrote it in capitals? I was venting, but thanks for listening.
So I spent about 3 hours, trying to get my website back to half decent and I managed to figure it out, and am now pleased with the results so I’ve calmed down.
Thanks for the tips and will make sure to create a child theme…
Just so I don’t have to search again “how to” can someone explain how to create a child theme??
