New tables do not come up with search functionality

    Hello support,

    I have an internal site that has now got ~ 400 tables using TablePress. Most of the tables use the javascript option to enable users to search and sort data etc. I have just created a new table by importing in a csv file and wish to be able to search and sort the displayed data. However, even though these options are selected I am unable to search and sort etc. I tried creating a new table using tablepress which just had 2 rows and 2 columns, selected the option to allow searching and sorting but again I cannot search or sort. It is almost as if the javascript does not run.

    Therefore, I looked at a table that I had created a while back which I have setup as searchable and sortable and I was able to search and sort. Therefore I am slightly puzzled.

    The only thing that has changed recently is I have been given a new PC which is Windows 7, IE 9, Office 2010 whereas the computer I was using before was Windows XP, IE 8 and Office 2003.

    If you can help me that would be great 🙂

    Hi Andy,

    thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

    This sounds like a problem with the JavaScript code, i.e. something might be causing a conflict. It’s strange that the existing table is still working though… I’d expect that this would then break on all tables.

    Now, to find out more about this, I’d need to take a direct look at the site. Could you therefore please post a link to a table that is not working? Thanks!

    Hi Tobias,

    Thank you for your quick reply Tobias. I have just solved it but not sure if it was the cause of the issue but new tables can be sorted and searched now 🙂

    I looked through the data in my table number 400 and I had a cell which I had not completed the link for so it just said, ” <a href=” “
    I removed this row as I did not require the row with this mistake and suddenly the javascript worked. I created a new table and again the search and sort worked fine. Weird but resolved 🙂

    very nice! That’s great news! 🙂

    Yes, most likely that HTML code for the link was broken somehow (the " matter there). That might have then lead to invalid HTML code for the table, so that the the JavaScript code choked on that.
