I’ve had my posts set to show Day and Name in the url since I started the site. All of a sudden some of the new ones have switched to the default funky url even though its still set to show day and name. When I go in to edit mode it shows the correct url where it shows the permalink. But when I view it it shows the default one.

I’d changed the permalinks then resaved them correctly but its still doing it. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    Nancy

You may have to check your .htaccess rules to see if they have changed.

I’ve not touched them… can something else do that? It’s odd as it’s only “some” of the unpublished posts that have done this.

You may have to publish the post to get the proper url? Can you test that please?

I’m going to keep an eye on this post as exactly the same is happening with me with WP 4.2.2. Was previously showing /event/an-event/ but now showing /?post_type=event&p=596

When I published it it did show correctly. But when I made it a draft again it’s doing the same thing. So I guess in the end it works, the only issue is that I set up a bulk social network schedule before its published and am used to quickly grabbing the url for that. For these I’ll have to type them out manually. But of a pain. But as it’s only doing this on “some” posts I’ll see if it resolves itself. I’ll post back after tracking this for a while.

Something for sure has caused it though.

FYI I checked if I had updated any addons and disabled the ones I had which made no difference.

I’ve not found any fix yet and three new posts are having the same problem. This is gonna be a pain.

Fortunately for me I was in a position where I could change this as I’ve only just started the site build that incorporates this functionality.

What I ended up doing is using Advanced Custom Fields and entering a start and end date for the event and using that to display it in the front end by order of the date in the custom field.

I’m actually wondering if this didn’t start happening when I updated to the newest version. Not sure I can do anything about that now.

It started happening on v4.2 of WP. Here’s a post I started about the same issue, with a few more details: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/urls-incorrect-for-scheduled-posts?replies=13
